Job summary

The Press Hotel in Portland, Maine, newly owned and managed by EOS Hospitality, is seeking a full time breakfast Cook to join their team at Union restaurant. Minimum starting at $21.00 per hour with potential for a four day workweek while maintaining full-time status if preferred.

Responsibilities include opening task lists, prep, stock management, station sanitation, inventory counts, and ensuring guest satisfaction through quality culinary prep. Strong teamwork and flexible hours are required.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of professional cooking experience
• Some classroom culinary training a plus but not required
• Strong understanding of culinary preparations and advanced knife skills
• Successful completion of satisfactory background check
• Available and willing to work flexible hours including weekdays and weekends
• Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Expresses enthusiasm for the role and passion for culinary
• Must prioritize, delegate, and work under pressure with hospitality mindset

Responsibilities

• Complete opening task lists to prepare for daily operations
• Unwrap/prepare prepped items and check dates and freshness
• Gather equipment and shift needs
• Write prep list and review prior night’s prep to ensure stock and pars
• Prep food items for service period
• Handle kitchen equipment safely and clean thoroughly
• Maintain a clean, organized, sanitary station
• Restock station and ensure full stock before shift change
• Clean and break down station at shift end
• Remove trash and cardboard from kitchen areas
• Sweep and mop kitchen for safety and sanitation
• Complete inventory counts nightly
• Follow cleaning guidelines and deep-clean when needed
• Know all menu items and promotions
• Check stations for proper food storage and sanitation
• Be aware of food allergies and safety in prep
• Attend trainings and meetings
• Demonstrate team-focused attitude and collaboration
