Job summary

Integrated Power Services (IPS) is hiring a Breaker Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain circuit breakers and related components. You will read schematics, perform high-current tests, and program retrofit units while ensuring safety and quality.

Expect travel to diverse locations and collaboration with seasoned technicians. You will work on disassembly/reassembly, component reconditioning, and on-site customer support, with emphasis on accuracy, teamwork, and continued skill growth

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience with electrical apparatus.
• High School/GED Diploma
• 2 year technical school or job-related certifications are a plus.
• Ability to perform the following tests: Primary current injection, secondary current injection, insulation, contact resistance, and high potential.
• Ability to understand the operation, application and care of test equipment; and proper use of multimeter scales & ranges.
• Ability to tear down, inspect, and rebuild with minimal assistance at least eight (8) different breaker families (eg. AK, DB, Magneblast, K‑Line, LA, etc.).
• Must have a strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform math calculations using basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to work under pressure and remain calm during stressful situations.
• Ability to take direction and act independently. Must also be able to work well with a team.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and stay organized.
• Must be a self‑starter and able to make quick decisions.
• Must be willing to follow standard safety practices in performing job tasks.
• Must show a history of being reliable and dependable. Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include: bending, lifting, carrying, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, or standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment and work around industrial equipment.
• Be willing to travel and work in several different geographic locations (indoors & outdoors).
• Driving to jobs is a regular function of this role.
• Must be willing to confidently submit to the background and drug screening process.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble and reassemble circuit breakers and subassembly parts to a fully functional unit.
• Evaluate, inspect, document damage, repairs and maintenance required to repair, rebuild or modify breakers.
• Read and interpret safety rules, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Install and program retrofit trip unit kits per guidelines and specifications.
• Perform diagnostic tests using high current, insulation, and contact resistance test sets.
• Prepare, clean and recondition components using various techniques.
• Maintain a neat, organized personal work area.
• Provide on-site customer support and maintain tools.
• Travel to job sites for field service.
