Qualifications

• One year of professional bread making experience.
• Education in culinary arts or bread making preferred but not required.

Breads Bakery is seeking passionate, purposeful bakers to join our team. Breads Bakery is a New York bakery dedicated to producing handmade breads and pastries using traditional baking techniques and providing our guests with an unforgettable experience. Our bread team has received several accolades for their craft and product, from Public Prize to Grand Prix for Best Baguette awarded by French Morning. This position opening might require an individual to work at two Breads Bakery locations, Union Square (our flagship on 16th St) and Upper East Side (74th and 3rd).

Responsibilities & Expectations:

• Recognize the importance of professionalism and respect and exemplify this in interactions with vendors and coworkers alike.
• Assist our team in all aspects of production including but not limited to scaling, mixing, shaping, proofing, baking and so on.
• Ensure proper inventory and quality are maintained- recognizing that every day presents varying needs and adjusting work flow to meet these needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe and aesthetically pleasing space in accordance with operations and sanitation guidelines.
• Follow tasks as instructed by managers and supervisors, ensuring responsibilities are met and, when possible, exceeded.
• Commit to creating consistent, high quality products- communicating to your superiors when there are concerns that these expectations are not met.
• Foster a positive work environment and commitment to Breads Bakery’s values.

Skills & Requirements:

• One year of professional experience in bread making, proofing and doughs.
• Formal education in culinary arts, pastry and/or bread making, preferred but not required.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Remarkable communication and interpersonal skills, strong problem-solving aptitude, and ability to multitask.
• Capacity to excel on a team or work independently.
• Ability to work early mornings, holidays, and weekends.
• Ability to work on your feet for a full shift and lift 50+ lbs during the shift.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements including meeting and qualitative or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual and regular attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards / requirements.
• Compliance with all personnel policies and practices.

Compensation & Benefits:

• $20-22/hour

*Rate range is reflective of an applicant who meets qualifications laid out in job description, if an applicant does not meet qualifications but is interested in applying we encourage you to do so, however, the rate will fall outside of this range.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
