Job description

Brand Director – Marketing & Creative

Location: Newark, NJ — On-Site
Compensation: $125,000–$175,000
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM–1:00 PM

Why This Role Exists

We are looking for a Brand Director to own how our brand shows up across every customer, dealer, and partner touchpoint.

The business has grown significantly, and the next stage requires stronger brand consistency, clearer positioning, and coordinated creative execution across channels.

This leader will own the brand strategy and ensure messaging, creative, photography, digital, social, print, campaigns, and customer-facing materials all reinforce one clear brand identity.

The larger opportunity is to increase brand awareness and evolve how the market understands and perceives the company.

What You Will Own
  • Own and evolve brand strategy, positioning, messaging, and brand standards.
  • Drive consistency across digital, social, email, print, photography, dealer materials, showrooms, campaigns, and other customer-facing channels.
  • Translate business and marketing objectives into integrated, multi-channel brand campaigns.
  • Lead and develop a team of approximately seven across graphic design, content, and product-facing creative functions.
  • Set creative direction and provide clear guidance to designers, writers, photographers, and other creative resources.
  • Build accountability and processes that protect brand consistency without slowing execution.
  • Lead the brand strategy behind major media, product, trade, and market-facing initiatives.
  • Partner with marketing leadership on strategies designed to increase brand awareness and improve brand perception.
  • Work with the company's PR agency to ensure external communications support the broader brand strategy.
  • Use market and customer insights to identify opportunities to strengthen positioning and brand relevance.
What Success Looks Like

Within the first year, you will have:

  • Created clear brand consistency across major customer touchpoints.
  • Strengthened the connection between positioning, messaging, imagery, photography, and creative execution.
  • Established scalable processes for protecting and evolving the brand.
  • Developed a strong creative and content organization with clear ownership and accountability.
  • Successfully translated strategic objectives into integrated campaigns across digital, social, print, and other channels.
  • Improved measurable brand awareness in priority markets.
  • Helped shift outdated market perceptions and strengthen understanding of the company's current value proposition.
What You Need
  • Significant experience leading brand strategy for a premium, consumer-facing, or B2B2C brand.
  • Experience managing and developing creative, content, or brand teams.
  • Strong understanding of positioning, messaging, storytelling, and creative strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience evolving, repositioning, refreshing, or scaling an established brand.
  • Ability to turn a business objective into a clear brand strategy and executable multi-channel campaign.
  • Strong creative judgment without needing to personally execute every creative asset.
  • Experience maintaining brand consistency across multiple channels and customer touchpoints.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to set direction, develop people, and hold teams accountable.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and move initiatives forward in a growing organization.
Experience We Value

Industry background is flexible. Experience building or evolving a premium or design-driven brand is more important than experience in any one specific category.

Relevant backgrounds may include:

  • Home and building products
  • Furniture, kitchen and bath, or interior products
  • Consumer durables
  • Hardware and appliances
  • Cosmetics and beauty
  • Jewelry
  • Fashion and accessories
  • Premium retail
  • Other high-end or design-led consumer brands

Experience with PR or reputation management is valuable but not required.

We are particularly interested in leaders who have helped an established but growing company evolve its brand rather than simply maintaining established guidelines inside a highly mature organization.

The Right Environment

You have likely succeeded in a growing or mid-sized organization where you had meaningful ownership and enough structure to operate at scale without excessive layers or bureaucracy.

You are comfortable setting direction, making decisions, developing a team, and turning strategy into execution while the company and brand continue to evolve.
