Job summary

General Electric Credit Union is seeking a Branch Teller for the Fairfield area. You will perform daily teller transactions, assist members with deposits, withdrawals, and routine account maintenance.

The role emphasizes accuracy, member service, and a friendly, professional presence in a fast-paced in-person setting. Ideal candidates have at least one year of member-facing experience and strong communication skills, with a focus on providing helpful financial guidance and ensuring a welcoming

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum one year member support related experience or professional experience required.
• Previous cash handling experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to operate software used to fulfill job duties.

Responsibilities

• Conduct teller transactions for members including transfers, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments and cash handling.
• Monitor deposits/withdrawals and review documents for endorsement and negotiability.
• Determine holds as necessary and communicate with members.
• Advise members on GECU products and refer to branch staff as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to resolve issues encountered during interactions.
• Guide members through self-service account maintenance via digital channels.
• Balance daily cash drawers and perform opening/closing procedures.
• Support branch in delivering welcoming service to all members.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Overview

While promoting a welcoming and member-focused environment, the Branch Teller administers basic member financial transactions while ensuring additional members’ needs are addressed by branch team.

Essential Responsibilities

• Conduct teller transactions for members including but not limited to transfers, withdrawals, deposits, loan payments, loan paydowns, and cash handling
• Monitor deposit and withdrawal amounts and examine documents for endorsement and negotiability
• Determine additional holds as necessary and communicate this information with members effectively
• Advise members on GECU products and services that help achieve desired outcomes and financial goals, referring members to branch staff for further consultation
• Collaborate with and refer members to other branch team members as necessary to complete or resolve additional issues that have been uncovered during the interaction
• Guide members through self-service handling of account maintenance requests through digital channels
• Responsible for daily balancing procedures
• Taking inventory of cash drawers at the beginning and end of shifts
• Support branch in ensuring members’ needs are being met and members are welcomed in a supportive and welcoming environment

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum one year member support related, or professional experience required
• Previous experience handling cash transactions preferred

• Great interpersonal and verbal communication skills, to deliver an impactful and positive experience
• High degree of professionalism, functioning well in a fast paced, in-person environment
• Thorough attention to detail in reviewing member accounts and processing transactions
