Job summary

Rihm Family Companies in Winona, MN seeks a Branch Service Manager to guide the Branch Service Department, drive monthly and annual budget goals, and set technician expectations for growth and efficiency.

You will coach a team of union and non‑union staff, collaborate with leadership to meet department targets, ensure safety and compliance, review service orders, and maintain strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in automotive or truck service department.
• 5+ years of successful supervisory experience.
• Associate's degree in business or management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise branch Service employees to achieve customer outcomes.
• Develop monthly and annual department budget goals with leadership.
• Ensure safe, compliant working environment and proper tool inventory.
• Review service orders and assist in invoicing and warranty processes.
• Foster teamwork and maintain strong customer relationships.

Strives to achieve monthly and annual Branch budget goals. Sets technician expectations to achieve growth in individual skill sets, achieve optimum work product efficiency, and to determine if individual employees are desired for retention or redeployment outside Rihm Kenworth.Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: Company and Operations:Lead, coach, and mentor a team of union and non-union employees, fostering a collaborative and respectful workplace.In conjunction with Controller, Branch Manager and Director of Service, develops monthly and annual department budget goalsContributes to achievement of department goals and objectivesAlways stays abreast of activities/work in the shopProvides service estimates to customers in conjunction with Service AdvisorsReviews and assists in closing ROs for invoicing or the Warranty Dept within 2 days of last touch by a technicianUnderstands and ensures compliance with warranty and policyInteracts with factory and vendor representativesEstablishes and maintains good working relationships with customersDirectly interacts with customers, direct reports and fellow employees to achieve best customer outcomesReviews service complaints/issues and effectively takes appropriate actionMaintains required and needed tool inventoryMaintains a safe and compliant working environmentMaintains a professional appearanceAttends management meetings when requestedOther duties as assigned to meet business requirementsPersonnel Management:Supervises day-to-day activities of branch Service employees: technicians, service advisors, lot portersDirectly oversees and works with the Service Advisors to achieve best customer outcomesParticipates in decision making process regarding employment actions such as hiring, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, terminations, etc.Trains, motivates, mentors, monitors and reviews employee performanceCoaches and takes corrective and disciplinary action, especially regarding safety matters, accidents and near missesStrives for teamwork and positive employee relations within department and with other departmentsOversees implementation and maintenance of employee training scheduleMonitors/manages technician time records and approves for payrollHolds regular employee meetings to foster open two-way communication and meet employee training and development needsQualifications:10+ years' experience automotive or truck service department experience5+ years of successful supervisory experienceKey Attributes/Skills/Characteristics:Proficiency with computers and basic business software applications (MS Office)Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilitiesDependable, organized and committedStrong communication skills, written & verbalResourceful and motivatedPreferred Qualifications:Associate's degree in business or managementAt least 2 years of experience managing unionized staff.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
