Job summary

Rihm Family Companies in Dodge Center, MN is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to service Kenworth, Peterbilt, and other vocational trucks. You will diagnose, repair and document work performed.

This full-time, day-shift role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 1+ year fleet or dealership experience, and owning your own tools. ASE and CDL certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical services to vehicles and equipment.
• Reads job orders and observes vehicles to resolve malfunctions.
• Follows checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
• Coordinates with warranty admins for profit recapture and warranty parts.
• Maintains organized workspace and completes work per safety procedures.
• Test drives vehicles to verify issues are fixed.
• Participates in management-assigned training.
• Ensures vehicles are clean before and after service.

Position Summary:

To perform both engine and chassis repairs on primarily Kenworth trucks, but also Peterbilt, International, Freightliner, vocational vehicles, and other makes. The scope of the job includes diagnosis, troubleshooting, and writing detailed stories for documentation purposes in addition to the physical work done on the truck.

Essential Position Functions/Responsibilities:

• Provides technical services to vehicles and equipment.
• Reads job order and observes and listens to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunctions and plan work procedures.
• Follows checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
• Coordinates with warranty administrators to ensure maximum profit recapture, including answering questions after repair and tagging warranty parts for return.
• Adheres to manufacturer's policies and procedures as they relate to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation.
• Maintains designated workspace in an organized and clean manner.
• Completes all work according to the applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
• Properly completes all work assigned by service manager/advisor and test drives vehicles to verify that issues are fixed.
• Participates in technical training assigned by management.
• Ensures customer vehicles are returned at the same level of cleanliness prior to being serviced.
• Makes every effort to achieve production objectives set by management.
• Examines protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and adjusts as needed
• Develops and maintains friendly and courteous relationships with customers, visitors, and coworkers

QualificationsEducation & Essential Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years Fleet or Dealership experience
• Possess own tools
