Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Librarian III-Branch Manager to lead daily operations, supervise staff, and manage a branch library. You will oversee inventory, budgeting, and program development for youth and adults, ensuring top-notch customer service and information access.

The ideal candidate holds an MLS, has at least three years of relevant experience including management, and demonstrates strong communication, training, and community engagement skills in a fast-growing county library system.

Qualifications

• MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program.
• 3 years of post-MLS experience with at least 1 year in management.
• Strong computer, verbal and written communication, supervision and organizational skills; ability to work with the public and officials.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of the library unit.
• Interview, train, schedule, supervise staff.
• Manage unit budget and monitor expenditures.
• Provide guidance on bibliographic and information services.
• Coordinate youth services programs and summer reading.
• Represent the library in schools and community groups.
• Attend meetings and professional development.
