Job summary

Martinrea Industrial is seeking Brake press Operators to produce parts and assemblies that meet customer requirements in quality and output, while maintaining a safe work environment. You will read drawings, set up brake presses, run programs, and inspect first off parts for quality, with emphasis on safety and adherence to company policies.

Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work independently or with supervision, and cooperate with Quality and Engineering to achieve continuous

Qualifications

  • Experience with metal fabrication is an asset.
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications.
  • Ability to use tape measure, Vernier and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to identify and change Brake Press tools.
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision.
  • Capable to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Mathematical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Must follow machine safety rules (light curtains, guarding, etc.).
  • Ensure tasks are performed within the allotted time.
  • 1st off/1st part inspection to meet QA requirements.
  • Program and set up machines to meet customer requirements in output and quality.
  • Interface with Quality and Engineering.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping standards.
  • Notify leads or supervisors of unsafe equipment or practices.

  • Brake press Operators at Martinrea Industrial are primarily responsible for the production of parts and assemblies that meet customer requirements in quality and output in a safe fashion.
Required Education & Experience
  • Experience with Metal Fabrication an asset
  • Ability to read drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Ability to use Tape Measure, Vernier and other measuring tools
  • Ability to identify and change Brake Press tools
  • Ability to work independently or with supervision
  • Capable to lift up to 50lbs from ground to table level
  • Mathematical aptitude
Essential Functions/Competency Level
  • Must work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, Martinrea Industrial rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by Martinrea
  • Must ensure machine safety rules are followed (light curtains, guarding, etc.
  • Ensure all tasks are performed in the allotted time provided
  • Assure that 1st off/1st Part is inspected and meets Quality Assurance requirements
  • Bend parts according to provided drawings and specifications
  • Completion of data entry and/or paperwork as required
  • Program, set up Machines to meet customer requirements in output and quality
  • Interface with Quality and Engineering
  • Maintain proper Martinrea housekeeping standards
  • Must notify lead hand and/or supervisors of all dysfunctional and/or unsafe equipment or work practices
  • All other duties as assigned by Supervisors and Managers
  • Responsible to adhere to all Health and Safety programs in accordance the OSHA.
  • Ensure that your work environment is clean, tidy organized and a safe workplace at all times
  • Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

  • Multiple demands, challenging, fast paced, team orientated environment, can be noisy
Physical Demands
  • Constant standing, walking, bending and lifting (light to heavy) and climbing
  • Warm/Cold temperatures
  • Communication with Lead Hand, Supervisors and Management
  • Overtime as required
Health & Safety
  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
