Job summary

Federal Signal Corporation is seeking a Brake Press Operator to assemble precision metal components in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment. You will set up brake presses, select tooling, load materials, inspect parts, and document production metrics to ensure quality and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, previous brake press experience, and familiarity with bending techniques.

Qualifications

  • Previous brake press experience or similar metal fabrication role preferred.
  • Experience with metals and bending techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Set up brake press machines according to work orders and specs.
  • Select and install tooling; adjust settings for dimensions and tolerances.
  • Load and position metal materials for processing.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and conformance to specs.
  • Use measuring devices to verify dimensions and angles.
  • Make adjustments to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Complete production documentation including quantities, scrap, time, and materials used.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area per safety policies.

Job description

As a Brake Press Operator, you will play a critical role in shaping the metal components that drive our production forward. This position offers the opportunity to apply your technical skills in a hands‑on environment while directly impacting the quality, precision, and performance of our finished products—all within a fast‑paced, team‑oriented manufacturing setting.

Essential Duties
  • Set up brake press machines according to work orders, blueprints, and job specifications.
  • Select and install proper tooling and adjust machine settings to achieve required dimensions, angles, and tolerances.
  • Load and position metal materials such as steel, aluminum, and other alloys for processing.
  • Inspect finished parts to verify quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
  • Use measuring devices to check dimensions, bend angles, and overall part quality.
  • Make adjustments to machine settings or tooling as needed to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Complete required production documentation, including quantities produced, scrap, time, and material usage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements while operating machinery and handling materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Brake Press Operator or in a similar metal fabrication role preferred.
  • Experience working with various metals and bending techniques is a plus.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment may be required.
  • Understanding of safe machine operation and proper material handling practices.
