Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking aBrake Control Systems Engineer to design and release brake control modules, coordinate with supplier partners, and perform FMEA and Functional Safety analyses. You will establish requirements for advanced brakes and support vehicle interfaces with cross-functional teams, including Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Programs.

You will also oversee testing, CAD/BOM management, and FMVSS compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline, or equivalent qualification.
• 4 years of design or development experience in chassis or powertrain controls.
• Experience with FMEA and related Failure Mode Avoidance processes.
• Familiarity with vehicle network communication (CAN).
• Ability to learn new tools, troubleshoot, and fix vehicle problems.
• Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
• Familiarity with computer-aided design systems, including TeamCenter and 3DX.
• Experience with complex system analysis tools and methods.
• Experience with problem-solving methods.
• Experience with software and electrical interfaces.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Visa sponsorship is not available.

Responsibilities

• Design and release brake control modules and brackets, owning all deliverables associated with the systems.
• Guide supplier partners through the Ford Global Product Development System process.
• Perform Failure Mode Avoidance and Functional Safety analyses.
• Establish requirements for advanced brake control systems and emerging technologies with the chassis controls foundation team.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Program teams to define and support vehicle interfaces.
• Support vehicle testing, rig testing, and Hardware-in-the-Loop simulations.
• Manage system quality, cost, and timing to ensure high-quality program deliverables.
• Manage product release CAD and BOM structures, assembly positioning, and mass attribute analysis.
• Facilitate supplier data integration and develop CAD studies to drive design improvements.
• Complete FMVSS documentation and compliance for brake-control safety systems.
