Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Livonia, MI seeks a Design and Release Engineer for Brake Controls Hardware. This role may have global responsibility for multiple vehicle lines, designing and releasing brake control modules and brackets, owning all related deliverables.

You will guide suppliers through GPDS, perform FMEA and functional safety analyses, and collaborate with chassis controls, Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Program teams to define interfaces and drive production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and/or a related field.
• 4 years of design or development experience in chassis or powertrain controls.
• Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience with FMEA and Failure Mode Avoidance processes.
• Familiarity with CAN vehicle networks.
• Self-starter able to learn new tools and troubleshoot vehicle problems.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Experience in supplier management and cost negotiation.
• Desire to bring new technologies from concept to production quickly.
• Familiarity with CAD systems like TeamCenter / 3DX.

Responsibilities

• Design and release brake control modules and brackets, owning all deliverables.
• Guide suppliers through Ford GPDS processes.
• Perform FMEA and functional safety analyses to prevent failures.
• Collaborate with chassis controls foundation team on requirements.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Program teams.
• Support vehicle and rig testing and Hardware-In-the-Loop simulations.
• Manage system quality, cost, and timing for high-quality deliverables.
