Job summary

Ford Motor Company in Livonia, MI is seeking a Design and Release Engineer for Brake Controls Hardware. You will own the design, release, and packaging of brake control modules and associated hardware for multiple vehicle lines.

Responsibilities include guiding suppliers through GPDS, performing FMEA and functional safety analyses, and coordinating with Electrical and Vehicle Program teams to ensure proper interfaces.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years in design/development for chassis or powertrain controls.
• Experience with FMEA and Failure Mode Avoidance.
• Familiarity with vehicle networks (CAN).
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Supplier management and cost negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and release brake control modules and brackets, owning all deliverables.
• Guide suppliers through the GPDS process.
• Perform FMEA and Functional Safety analyses to prevent failures.
• Collaborate with chassis controls foundation team on requirements for advanced brake systems.
• Coordinate with Electrical, Powertrain, and Vehicle Program teams for interfaces.
• Support vehicle and rig testing, and Hardware-In-the-Loop simulations.
• Manage system quality, cost and timing for high-quality deliverables.
