The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine & Pathology (DLMP) seeks a Research Scientist/Engineer 2 for BRaIN to advance human brain research from donation to tissue analysis. This full-time day shift role is based at Harborview Medical Center with a diverse, collaborative team.

Responsibilities include leading brain procurement and histopathology steps, supervising junior staff, and contributing to 3D reconstructions and immunoassays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in neuroscience, anatomy, biology or related field and two years of experience with biospecimens.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex donor brain procurement, dissection, preservation and analysis with an on-call team.
• Dissect and assess key anatomical structures for histopathologic examination with minimal supervision.
• Support in silico 3D reconstructions and tissue/diffusion assays; maintain records and quality control.
