Job summary

The University of Washington's BRaIN Laboratory seeks an Operations Research Manager to lead biospecimen procurement, processing, storage, and data accounting for brain research programs at the Harborview Medical Center campus. You will collaborate with the PI and neuropathologists to implement the lab's future vision across multiple studies.

Required: Master's in Pathologists' Assistant, ASCP certification, and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from an accredited Pathologists' Assistant program required.
• ASCP Pathologists' Assistant certification is required.
• Two years of supervisory experience preferred, with direct staff oversight.
• Experience with postmortem examination, brain and spinal cord removal.
• Experience with histology (embedding, microtomy) and IHC workflow.

Responsibilities

• Oversees and trains staff performing biospecimen acquisition, dissection/processing, storage, and distribution.
• Manages rapid tissue procurement service and coordinates participant procurements at outside sites.
• Supports budget development and cost analyses for the BRaIN lab.
• Negotiates contracts and pricing for equipment and service contracts.
• Ensures compliance with quality assurance and data accounting for biospecimens.
