The Zamudio Alcohol Research Lab in the Neuroscience department at MUSC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated research specialist. This position provides hands-on experience in biomedical research using ex-vivo electrophysiology, chemogenetics, calcium fiber photometry, alcohol exposure protocols and whole-brain light-sheet microscopy.

Ideal candidates have a STEM degree and a strong willingness to learn new techniques; training will be provided. The role starts as early as November 2026.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 2 years research experience or a Bachelor's in a related science.
• Knowledge of basic cell and molecular biology protocols.
• Ability to learn advanced wet lab techniques (chemogenetics, slice electrophysiology, calcium fiber photometry).
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsabilités

• 30% Ethanol exposure treatments and record keeping for consumption.
• 25% Stereotaxic intracranial injections and fiber photometry recordings.
• 25% Electrophysiological recordings and potential training for ex-vivo patch clamp.
• 20% General lab maintenance and organization.
