Job summary

The UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging seeks a Specialist to join the BRAIN lab, affiliated with ci², developing AI tools for brain MRI including segmentation, longitudinal tracking, and uncertainty quantification.

The role involves preprocessing large MRI datasets, training DL models on HPC clusters, conducting statistical analyses, and communicating findings with neurologists, neuroradiologists, and data scientists. Collaboration across disciplines is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, bioengineering, computer science, physics, or related field.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) or bachelor’s with 3+ years of research experience.
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) or five to ten years of research experience for Associate rank.
• Terminal degree (or equivalent) or ten+ years of research experience for Full rank.
• Applicants must meet qualifications by hire.
• Applicant materials must list current/pending qualifications upon submission.

Responsibilities

• Curate and preprocess large clinical brain MRI datasets.
• Develop, train, and evaluate deep learning models on HPC clusters.
• Perform statistical analysis of imaging and clinical data.
• Interpret results with clinicians and data scientists.
• Contribute to manuscripts, presentations, and grant reports; maintain reproducible code.
