The UCSF Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging seeks a Specialist to join the BRAIN lab, affiliated with ci², developing AI tools for brain MRI including segmentation, longitudinal tracking, and uncertainty quantification.
The role involves preprocessing large MRI datasets, training DL models on HPC clusters, conducting statistical analyses, and communicating findings with neurologists, neuroradiologists, and data scientists. Collaboration across disciplines is essential.
BRAIN Lab – Junior/Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist
The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco seeks a Specialist to join the BRAIN lab, which is affiliated with the Center for Intelligent Imaging (ci²) and develops artificial intelligence methods for brain MRI. The lab’s work spans automated segmentation and longitudinal tracking of brain abnormalities (tumors and other lesions), uncertainty quantification for clinical AI, brain MRI foundation models, normative neuroimaging models, and multi-site clinical validation of these tools.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Andreas Rauschecker), the Specialist will curate and preprocess large clinical brain MRI datasets; develop, train, and evaluate deep learning models on high-performance computing clusters; perform statistical analysis of imaging and clinical data; and interpret results with neurologists, neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, and data scientists. The Specialist will also contribute to manuscripts, presentations, and grant reports, maintain reproducible code, and share technical expertise with lab members.
