ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While working as a Brain Injury Services Care Specialist:

  • Providing direct personal, unskilled care and hygiene assistance to residents following assigned resident Care Plans, (i.e., bathing, oral care, nominal to severe incontinence care, dressing, grooming, etc.), as well as assisting and monitoring residents during mealtimes (including, but not limited to, support, oversight, cueing, etc.).
  • Properly communicating the needs of both residents and staff to ensure good customer service and the overall well-being of residents, natural supports, staff and vendors.
  • Completing required documentation promptly, accurately, and legibly.
  • Providing basic behavior management interventions (i.e., defusing anger, redirecting, offering alternative solutions and providing positive guidance for our residents) associated with characteristics of brain-injured individuals. Risks include sexual, verbal, and/or physical aggression that may be exacerbated by co-occurring mental illness, substance abuse, etc.
  • Maintaining professional boundaries with residents, co-workers, and outside agencies associated with any Hilltop program while maintaining the dignity, confidentiality, privacy and rights of every individual.
  • Assist in performing housekeeping duties as needed to maintain cleanliness of resident apartments and surrounding grounds. This may include, but not limited to, trash removal, cleaning up bodily fluids (i.e. blood, feces, urine, vomit, etc.) while using the proper Personal Protective Equipment and disinfecting standards, disinfecting, cleaning wheelchairs and walkers, and organizing apartments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

While working as a Brain Injury Services Medication Technician:

  • Administer medications as outlined by physician orders by verifying medications to the Medications Administration Record.
  • Strictly follow the rights of medication administration process; including right dose, right route, right medication, right client, and right documentation.
  • Follow all Corporate, Program, and State Medication Administration policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Monitor the narcotic medications by counting all assigned narcotics prior to receiving control over the medication cart; conduct a narcotic count prior to giving control of the medication cart to any other individual.
  • Complete assigned documentation within prescribed timelines promptly, accurately, and legibly.
  • Report all medication errors immediately and complete the required documentation for medication errors.
  • Clean assigned medication carts prior to the end of the shift by emptying trash, wiping down the cart, organizing medications, and replenishing supplies.
  • Clean the medication room prior to the end of each shift by emptying trash, wiping down the sink and refrigerator, dusting, sweeping, mopping, organizing medications, and replenishing supplies.
