Job summary

Minds Matter LLC in Independence, KS is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to implement treatment plans and help clients regain independence in daily living activities. You will evaluate, plan and adjust therapies, coordinate with supervisors and case managers, and document progress according to HIPAA and agency guidelines.

Responsibilities include collaborating with therapists to tailor interventions, educating families, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Successfully completion of an occupational therapy assistant program from an accredited associate degree program.
• Must be currently licensed in the state of Kansas.
• A license in Missouri is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Learn and implement Minds Matter LLC philosophical principles.
• Assist individuals to identify their needs and develop appropriate compensation techniques to accommodate consequences of brain injury.
• Contribute to evaluations that address consumers’ physical and mental abilities and analyze medical data to determine best methods and strategies for therapies.
• Evaluate and recommend changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist in consumers’ work or living environments that are consistent with their needs.
• Integrate employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy.
• Collaborate with consumer and other professional staff to determine when goals are being met.
• Attend team meetings and assist consumer in goal setting.
• Integrate employment, educational and independent living goals into therapy.
• Work closely with the consumer and case manager to ascertain goals.
• Provide services only as designated on each individual consumer’s plan of care and/or physician orders.
• Work directly with consumers to improve skills in all aspects of their life goals.
• Maintain and turn in all documentation at assigned times.
• Educate families about consequences of brain injury and communicate with them about goals and progress as needed.
• Attend trainings to maintain up-to-date practice.
• Provide documentation that is legible, timely and appropriate to services provided.
• Be aware of departmental goals and help attain them.
• Schedule supervision meetings bi-monthly or as needed to review cases.
• Make initial contact within 48 hours of referral and complete evaluation within 7 days.
• Assist with goal setting at initial evaluation and ongoing as goals evolve.
• Provide quarterly summaries related to goal attainment.
• Meet all policy requirements and complete timesheets and reports.
• Establish professional rapport with consumers, co-workers, referral agents and community services.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records per HIPAA regulations.
• Promote public relations for the program.
• Demonstrate willingness to serve on agency/interagency groups.
• Provide care for Minds Matter LLC issued computer if assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
