Title

Assistant Tennis Coach

Reports To

Athletic Director

Schedule

Sports teams have daytime practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, with home and away games/matches Wednesday and Saturday. Season starts March 2nd, and ends May 23rd. Schedule may vary according to departmental and Academy needs.

Salary per Season

$3,000 - $3,750 based on experience.

Position Purpose

Instruct or coach teams and individual students in the fundamentalsof sports. Demonstrate techniques and methods of participation. May evaluate athletes' strengths and weaknesses as possible recruits,or to improve the athlete’s technique to prepare them for competition.

Job Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and conduct practice sessions withcollaboration of Head Coach.
  • Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation inorder to prepare athletes for games, competitive events, and/ortours.
  • Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, andphilosophies relevant to their sport.
  • Adjust coaching techniques based on the strengths andweaknesses of athletes.
  • Instruct individuals or groups in sports rules, gamestrategies, and performance principles such as specific ways ofmoving the body, hands, and/or feet in order to achieve desiredresults.
  • Evaluate athletes' skills, and review performance records, inorder to determine their fitness and potential in a particular areaof athletics.
  • Represent the sports program in a professional manner andwithin the bounds of good sportsmanship and values of PEA.
  • Transport athletes to games with academy van or minibus.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Candidates will be required to hold/obtain a NH CommercialBoating License and become CPR/AED certified
Experience
  • Has played sport in high school or college or has reached alevel of expertise in the sport as an adult through participationcoaching or through a formal coaching development program.
  • Experience in an academic institution preferred.
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational settingpreferred.
Physical Requirements
  1. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work andwill require the ability to remain standing for extended periods oftime, go up and down flights of steps, lift and push heavy objectsas well as stoop, squat, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift.
  2. Physically able to act quickly in emergencies.
  3. Ability and dexterity to grasp and grip and safely operatesports equipment.
  4. Ability to lift and transport up to 25lbs withoutassistance.
