Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools is seeking an Assistant Coach for Boys Soccer (Junior Varsity) to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating the program. The role focuses on developing student-athletes in a safe, inclusive, and competitive environment.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience, IHSA-conformant training, and the ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to foster student growth and team culture.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification, as mandated by IHSA.
• CPR and AED certification as required for high school coaches.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance as per IHSA eligibility.
• Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws in athletics.
• In-depth knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Prior successful coaching experience in the sport.
• Strong instructional skills in fundamentals, strategy, and conditioning.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design skill-development drills and conditioning sessions.
• Provide feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and warm-ups.
• Maintain inventory and coordinate equipment repairs and usage.
• Monitor IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols including CPR/AED readiness.
• Support eligibility tracking and required documentation (physicals, clearances).
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; relay concerns to Head Coach.
• Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and post-season tasks.
