Job summary

Punahou School is seeking a Head Coach for the Boys Intermediate Soccer team to inspire, motivate, and develop student athletes while teaching techniques, rules, and game strategies. The ideal candidate will have prior coaching experience in an educational setting, strong communication and organizational skills, and a proven track record of leadership in a large school program.

Work year is 3 months with winter season 2026-2027; hours Monday–Friday late afternoons, and weekends; stipend range

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
Two years of leadership in a successful interscholastic program as a head coach or equivalent.
Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents.
Knowledge of the value of athletics and competition at the intermediate and high school level.
Development of comprehensive practice plans, offensive/defensive schemes, and off-season expectations.

Responsibilities

Inspire, motivate, and develop each student athlete while teaching techniques, rules, and strategies.
Model sportsmanship and develop a team system based on each athlete’s unique abilities.
Demonstrate positions and coaching practices with clear communication and organization.
Lead practice planning and game preparation for the boys soccer program.
Collaborate with school staff to integrate athletic goals with student growth.
