Job summary

Punahou School’s Athletics Department is seeking an Assistant Coach for the Boys Intermediate Basketball Team. The role supports the head coach by organizing practices, guiding student athletes, and teaching game strategies.

The ideal candidate has coaching experience in an educational setting, strong communication and organizational skills, and a positive track record of leadership. Work year is 3 months during the 2026-2027 winter season with afternoon/weekend hours, and a stipend is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• One year of positive leadership experience in an interscholastic program as a coach or related athletic experience.
• Background in teaching preferred, with experience working with adolescents.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with organizing the needs of the sport within the Athletic Program.
• Conduct practices and motivate students.
• Instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques.
• Demonstrate positions and teach coaching practices appropriate to the sport.
