Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is hiring for a PA Assistant/Class C Box Truck Driver to backfill a temporary position. Pay rate is $20.00 per hour.

The role requires safe operation and loading/unloading of donated material, strict adherence to DOT rules, and meeting daily routing goals. This backfill position can last up to 18 months and involves instructing and supervising truck helpers in a rehabilitation program context while maintaining professional conduct and excellent customer

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Clean Driving Record is required.
• Strong time management and customer service skills are required.
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and stay on route unless directed otherwise.
• Manage time to complete the route within the work schedule.
• Complete routes 100% every day unless approved otherwise.
• Load and unload trucks safely.
• Assist in loading/unloading other trucks as needed.
• Handle donations safely and use PPE as required.
• Train and supervise truck helpers in the rehab program context.
• Maintain proper Bag & Tag procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-checks daily.
• Report pre- and post-check exceptions to supervisor.
• Ensure truck equipment is in working order and secured.
• Provide courteous customer service to donors and customers.
• Report any accidents or safety incidents promptly.
• Abide by DOT regulations and state/local laws.
• Attend driver safety meetings and follow safety procedures.
