Job summary

The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center & Thrift Stores in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a part-time Box Truck Driver to cover 25 hours per week. Local routes include pickups and deliveries, with compliance to DOT and OSHA regulations.

You will operate Salvation Army trucks, perform pre/post-trip inspections, assist with loading/unloading, and maintain professional donor service while representing the organization.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years licensed driving experience.
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check.

Responsibilities

You'll represent The Salvation Army with professionalism, provide outstanding donor service, and ensure the safe and efficient transportation of donated items that support our mission.

What You’ll Do

Transportation & Logistics

• Follow scheduled routing procedures efficiently
• Drive Salvation Army truck for pickups and deliveries
• Ensure security and safe handling of all goods and materials
• Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles
• Comply with all DOT and OSHA regulations
• Train and Certify New Production Assistants/Drivers

Customer Service

• Act as a personal representative of The Salvation Army
• Ensure all donors are treated courteously and respectfully
• Communicate donation acceptance policy with donors
• Report any pickup problems to dispatcher
• Maintain professional appearance per ARC dress code

Operations Support

• Use DSS program and assigned iPad apps effectively
• Support beneficiaries in work therapy goals through training and mentoring
• Handle loading and unloading of trucks as needed
• Wear all assigned PPE including gloves, masks, and back guard
• Report any safety or security concerns immediately

What You Need

Required

Education & Experience

• High School Degree or equivalent
• At least two years licensed driving experience
• Must pass pre-employment DOT screen, drug test, and background check

Required Certifications
