The North Carolina Zoo is seeking a Botanical Garden Administrator to lead plant collection management and garden operations in Asheboro, NC. You will oversee labeling, accessioning, and database maintenance while supporting animal habitats and conservation goals.

Responsibilities include developing protocols, supervising staff and volunteers, updating the website, and contributing to BGCI accreditation efforts while complying with safety and SOPs.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in biology or zoology or related field.
• Two years' experience in specialty area; a Master’s degree may substitute for experience.
• Knowledge of plant identification and botanical nomenclature.
• Experience with arboretum, botanical garden, zoo, conservatory, or plant-focused institution.
• Experience presenting lectures, tours, or public media pieces.
• Experience with GIS mapping, database management, and specimen labelling.

Responsabilidades

• Development of protocols and operational procedures for the botanical garden.
• Plant collection and preservation, accession, taxonomic identification, database maintenance, and proposals for external funding.
• Supervise staff, students, interns and volunteers.
• Assist the uploading of the plant collection on the Zoo website.
• Review and update the plant collection database under direction of the Hort Curator Manager.
• Record progress for BGCI accreditation reviews.
• Comply with safety, environmental, and all Zoo SOPs.
