Job summary

Burgess recruitment is seeking a temporary Bosun for a 50m motor yacht based in Fort Lauderdale. The role includes overseeing deck operations, tender driving, and guest services with a focus on structured, autonomous work aboard.

The position requires Yacht Master Offshore, 1-2 years' experience, and strong maintenance and leadership skills. US work authorization (B1/B2) is essential; start ASAP with a temporary duration to be confirmed. Bahamas charter plans may occur seasonally.

Qualifications

• Yacht Master Offshore certification required.
• 1-2 years' experience in a similar role preferred.
• Proven maintenance skills and hands-on deck management experience.
• Ability to oversee all deck operations including tender driving and guest services.
• Strong leadership and clear communication with crew and guests.
• Excellent organizational skills and inventory control.
• B1/B2 Visa/Right to live & work in the USA is essential.

Burgess recruitment is currently seeking a temp Bosun for a 50m motor yacht.

The vessel is based in Fort Lauderdale, offering good working hours and a more settled routine. The intention is to begin cruising in the coming months, although a definite timeline cannot be confirmed at this stage. Longer-term plan is to charter in the Bahamas during the winter season.

This position would suit someone who enjoys a structured workload, is comfortable living onboard, and values independence and autonomy outside of watchkeeping duties.
