EWI Recruitment is seeking a Bore / Hydrovac Superintendent to lead field operations across civil, infrastructure and utility projects in Texas. You will supervise crews, coordinate plant and subcontractors, and ensure work is delivered safely, efficiently and to quality standards.

You will bring strong knowledge of horizontal directional drilling, vacuum excavation and underground service works, with a proven ability to manage changing priorities, communicate with project managers and clients,

Competenze

• Substantial experience in a supervisory or superintendent role in civil construction or utilities.

Bore / Hydrovac Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced Bore / Hydrovac Superintendent to lead field operations across a range of civil, infrastructure and utility projects. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for coordinating crews, plant and subcontractors while ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of horizontal directional drilling, vacuum excavation and associated underground service works. You will be confident supervising teams in the field, managing changing priorities and maintaining clear communication with project managers, clients and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily bore and hydrovac activities, allocating personnel, equipment and resources effectively.
• Interpret project plans, service information, permits and work instructions before commencing tasks.
• Coordinate drilling, potholing, trenching, spoil management and reinstatement activities.
• Monitor production, costs, programme requirements and site performance, reporting issues promptly.
• Lead pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and site briefings, reinforcing safe work practices.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety, environmental and quality requirements.
• Inspect plant and equipment, arrange maintenance and identify potential operational hazards.
• Liaise with clients, utility owners, traffic controllers, subcontractors and internal teams.
• Complete accurate daily records, timesheets, permits, inspection documentation and incident reports.

About you

You will have substantial experience in a supervisory or superintendent role within civil construction, utilities, trenchless technology or hydrovac operations. A sound understanding of underground services, ground conditions, drilling methods and vacuum excavation is essential. Experience operating or overseeing bore rigs, hydrovac units and support vehicles will be highly regarded.

You should hold relevant industry tickets and licences, along with a current driving licence and a strong commitment to safe work. The role requires practical problem-solving ability, sound planning skills and the confidence to make informed decisions in dynamic site environments. A collaborative leadership style and clear written and verbal communication skills are also important.
