Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks officers for locations across the United States. You will perform inspections, intelligence analysis and law enforcement activities at Ports of Entry to prevent threats and ensure safe travel and legitimate trade.

Residency requirements apply; U.S. citizenship and Selective Service registration may be required. Training and background investigations are part of the process, and the role offers progression from GS-09 to GS-12 with locality-based pay

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is required to apply.
Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.
Residency in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years is required.
Pre-employment processes conducted in English.
A background investigation and/or polygraph may be required.
CBP follows a Drug-Free Workplace Plan.

Responsibilities

Perform inspection, intelligence analysis, examination and law enforcement activities at Ports of Entry (POE).
Conduct developmental officer duties to protect the U.S. homeland and facilitate trade and travel.
Develop, plan and participate in tactical operations.
Interact with carriers, other agencies and foreign entities to exchange information and provide guidance on admissibility/compliance.
