Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO) to enforce border, immigration, and trade laws across the United States. The role spans entry and mid-level, with opportunities at GS-5, GS-7, and GS-9 grades and potential promotions to higher grades.

In addition to base pay, overtime and extensive federal benefits are offered, with recruitment incentives for prioritized duty locations.

Qualifications

• GS-5 requires 3 years general experience or a bachelor’s degree or combination of experience and education.
• GS-7 requires 1 year specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade and related duties.
• GS-9 requires 1 year specialized experience at next lower grade or higher education substitution/combination.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Inspect individuals and conveyances and determine admissibility for entry.
• Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of contraband; oversee travel and trade flows.
