Job summary

Customs and Border Protection seeks a CBPO to enforce customs, immigration and agriculture laws at borders. This role supports the nation's security and economic goals and offers competitive federal benefits and career stability.

Positions are full-time at multiple grade levels (GS-5/7/9) with on-the-job training. Eligibility requires US citizenship and residency requirements; extensive training at FLETC will follow.

Qualifications

• GS-5: A minimum of 3 years of general experience, 1 year at GS-4 level, or a conferred bachelor's degree or 4-year course; combination allowed.
• GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience at next lower grade; education substitutions possible; CBP Officer requirements.
• GS-9: 1 year of specialized experience at next lower grade; advanced education substitutions available; knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture law and regulations.
• Enforcing the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conducting inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determining the admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Preventing illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband.
