Job summary

Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPOs) play a critical role in safeguarding the United States by enforcing border laws and conducting inspections. This entry-level opportunity provides pathways from GS-5 to higher grades through a defined career ladder and mandatory training at FLETC.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of general work experience demonstrating the ability to meet and deal with people; OR
• A bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study from an accredited college or university; OR
• A combination of college education and general work experience.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Facilitate the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determine admissibility of individuals for entry into the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry of individuals and prohibited goods and contraband.
