Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Customs and Border Protection Officers (CBPO) at the GS-5, GS-7, or GS-9 levels. The base salary ranges from $41,863 to $127,464 per year with potential overtime pay up to $45,000. Recruitment incentives up to $15,000 per year may be offered for prioritized locations with a multi-year contract.

Citizenship, residency, and academy training requirements apply. Positions are full-time with opportunities for advancement to higher grades.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of CBP laws, regulations, and precedents; CBP officer processes and procedures.
• Ability to perform inspections, questioning, and observations at ports of entry.
• Strong judgment, decision-making, and risk assessment abilities.

Responsibilities

• Enforcing customs, immigration, and agriculture laws and regulations.
• Inspecting individuals and conveyances to determine admissibility.
• Maintaining the flow of legitimate trade and travel and preventing illegal entry and contraband.
