Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring CBPOs across multiple duty locations in the United States. Base pay ranges from $41,863 to $127,464 per year, with potential overtime up to $45,000.

Recruits may receive comprehensive federal benefits, retirement, leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan. These entry and mid-level positions offer career growth to GS-11/GS-12 levels, and include required training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

Qualifications

• GS-5: 3 years of general experience, 1 year at GS-4 equivalent, or a conferred bachelor’s degree or 4-year degree.
• GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade, including performing physical inspections and applying laws/regulations.
• GS-9: 1 year of specialized experience at least to the next lower grade level, plus knowledge of CBP procedures and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

• Enforce customs, immigration, and agricultural laws and regulations.
• Control the flow of legitimate trade and travel.
• Conduct inspections of individuals and conveyances.
• Determine admissibility of individuals entering the United States.
• Prevent illegal entry and smuggling of contraband.
