Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents in numerous duty locations across the United States.

You will serve as a Border Patrol Agent, a valued member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer corps, with career stability, health and retirement benefits, and recruitment and retention incentives. Qualifications include progressively responsible experience or a bachelor's degree with multiple grade levels available (GL-5/7/9 or GS-11 with potential for GS-12).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of general work experience and education can qualify.
• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to handle responsibility and stay calm in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting and following tracks and evidence of illegal entry.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using various assets.
