As a BPA, you protect the United States at the border, perform patrols, inspections, and questioning to enforce immigration and customs laws, and may operate from diverse duty locations nationwide. Qualifications

• Experience: One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; learning regulations, methods, and techniques; ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and document examination.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws; inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry; performing farm/building/traffic checks and various patrols.
• Patrolling international boundaries and coastal waterways using government assets to fulfill the USBP mission.
