Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents (BPAs) to join a large federal agency protecting the U.S. from threats while facilitating lawful travel and trade. You’ll be part of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer profession and work full-time at entry or mid-levels with strong job stability.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include knowledge of immigration laws and safety procedures.
Ability to apply firearms and force policies in field situations.
Analytical reasoning and decision-making under stress.
Eligibility to qualify for GL-5/GL-7 grade levels as described.

Responsibilities

Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations.
Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
Interpreting tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
Performing farm, building, traffic, city and transportation checks.
Patrolling borders and coastal waterways using various government assets.
