Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry and mid-level positions across multiple duty locations. You will join a federal law enforcement cadre with competitive base pay and generous benefits.

Recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and potential retention incentives up to $30,000 are available, with duties spanning surveillance, inspections, and border patrol duties under GL-5 to GS-11 levels and advancement to GS-12.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education equivalent for GL-5.
• Specialized experience as needed for higher grades.
• Education substitution: bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning individuals suspected of violations of immigration or customs laws.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrolling borders and coastal waterways using various assets.
