This is a full-time career path with education or prior public safety experience qualifying candidates for entry or mid-level roles. The BPA position involves security screening, border patrol operations, and the use of government assets to enforce laws, protect the nation, and support lawful travel and trade.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of general work experience or a bachelor's degree substitution.
• Combination of experience and education acceptable.
• Prior law enforcement or military experience may allow qualification at higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations; inspect documents and possessions.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and evidence of illegal entry.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol the international boundary and waterways using various government assets.
