Job summary

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) seeks Border Patrol Agents to join a large federal law enforcement workforce. BPAs serve as a vital member of the LEO profession, with base pay, federal benefits, and job stability.

Duties include detecting and questioning people, preventing illegal entries, patrolling borders using varied assets, and following evidence. Recruits may receive recruitment and retention incentives up to $50,000 and training at the academy.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge and make sound decisions.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study.
• Combination of general work experience and college education may qualify.
• Certain experience may qualify for higher grade levels (GL-9/GS-11).

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration or customs violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, and city patrol checks.
• Patrol international boundaries using varied government assets.
