Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is seeking Border Patrol Agents (BPA) to safeguard the United States at and between the borders. This full-time, entry- and mid-level career offers eligibility based on education or prior public safety experience.

Typical duties include detecting and questioning individuals, inspecting documents, and patrolling borders with vehicles, horses, vessels, and more to accomplish the USBP mission. Promotions to higher grades are possible with demonstrated performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four-year college education is acceptable.
• Experience combined with education may qualify.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpreting tracks and evidence of illegal entry.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using government assets.
