Qualifications

• Minimum qualification at GL-5 level requires 1 year of general work experience demonstrating ability to learn regulations and gather concise information.
• Bachelor's degree or full four-year course of study may substitute education for qualification.
• Combination of experience and education may be considered for the GL-5/GL-7 levels.
• Note: The listing describes GL-5 through GL-11 pathways with specialized requirements for higher grades.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question individuals suspected of immigration and customs violations; inspect documents and possessions.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders using surveillance and field tactics.
• Interpret tracks, marks and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks as assigned.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using a variety of assets.
