Qualifications

• One year of general work experience or education that demonstrates ability to learn regulations and procedures; capability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four‑year course of study from an accredited college or university.
• Combination of general work experience and education may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of immigration and customs violations and inspect documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near borders by surveillance from covert positions and night operations.
• Interpret tracks, marks and other evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Perform checks of farms, buildings, traffic, city patrols, and transportation as part of routine duties.
• Patrol the international boundary and coastal waterways using vehicles, horses, vessels and other assets to accomplish the CBP mission.
