Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is hiring Border Patrol Agents to protect the United States by preventing illegal entry while facilitating lawful travel and trade. The BPA role spans entry to mid-level positions with strong promotion potential and competitive federal benefits.

Selected BPAs may receive recruitment incentives up to $20,000 and retention incentives up to $30,000, plus comprehensive health, dental, and retirement plans as part of federal employment benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to take charge, make decisions, and learn regulations.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
• Combination of experience and education will be evaluated via resume and transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Detect and question people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents to determine citizenship or violations.
• Prevent and apprehend undocumented noncitizens and smugglers near the border using surveillance and night-vision equipment.
• Interpret tracks and evidence of illegal entry and contraband.
• Perform farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
• Patrol international boundaries and coastal waterways using various assets to fulfill CBP mission.
