Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is recruiting Border Patrol Agents (BPA) for full-time, entry- and mid-level positions. The role involves border and coastal patrols, questioning individuals, and enforcing immigration and customs laws across various duty locations.

Base pay varies by grade (GL-5 to GS-11) with additional recruitment and retention incentives. Federal benefits include health, dental, leave, and the Thrift Savings Plan.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating the ability to take charge and make sound decisions under stress.
• Bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor’s degree.
• Combination of experience and education may be acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Detect individuals suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspect documents.
• Prevent and apprehend unauthorized noncitizens and smugglers near borders.
• Interpret tracks, marks, and physical evidence of illegal entry or contraband.
• Patrol borders using vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
• Conduct farm, building, traffic, city, and transportation checks.
