Job summary

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is hiring Border Patrol Agents (BPA). This federal position offers strong base pay, comprehensive benefits, and career stability within a large law enforcement community.

Multiple entry and mid‑level grades are available with education or related public safety experience qualifying you for the GL/GS tracks. Duties include inspecting documents, questioning travelers, policing borders, and using diverse assets to detect illegal entry.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience demonstrating ability to learn regulations and gather information.
• A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study.
• Combination of general experience and education accepted.

Responsibilities

• Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and customs laws and inspecting documents and possessions.
• Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers at the borders using surveillance and assets.
• Interpreting tracks and physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband.
• Performing checks across farms, buildings, traffic, city, and transportation.
• Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways with vehicles, horses, vessels, and other assets.
