Job summary

Books-A-Million is hiring for an hourly seasonal Bookseller role at one of our retail store locations in New Jersey. You’ll greet customers, help them find books, and complete transactions with accuracy and warmth. This position emphasizes customer experience, teamwork, and maintaining an inviting sales floor.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older
• Successful completion of all required background screenings
• A genuine love of books, reading, and discovering something new — with curiosity to learn about products, authors, and what customers are excited about.
• Strong communication and connection skills — creating warm, genuine interactions with customers and teammates through thoughtful listening and clear communication.
• An ownership mindset — taking initiative, staying organized, and confidently balancing multiple priorities to keep the store running smoothly.
• Previous retail or customer service experience — bringing an understanding of what it takes to create a welcoming store, serve customers well, and take ownership of the details that make a great retail experience.
• Comfort with technology and transactions — using computers and cash registers accurately while staying curious and willing to learn new systems and processes.
