Job summary

CFS in Bakersfield, CA is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to support a broad range of accounting and payroll functions within a well-established manufacturing environment.

You will perform month-end and year-end close, maintain the general ledger for multiple entities, prepare financial statements, process payroll including taxes and garnishments, and handle sales and use tax returns, W‑2s and 1099s, reporting to ownership and leadership.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bookkeeping or full-cycle accounting experience.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Payroll processing experience including payroll taxes and garnishments.
• Familiarity with sales and use tax filings.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end and year-end close activities.
• Prepare financial statements and related reports.
• Maintain the general ledger for multiple entities.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process and reconcile payroll, including payroll taxes and garnishments.
• Administer employee benefits as they relate to payroll.
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns.
• Prepare year-end W-2s and 1099s.
• Assist with HR-related administrative functions.
• Support ownership and leadership with accounting-related requests and reporting.
• Maintain organized and accurate accounting documentation.
