Job summary

La Plata County seeks a Booking Specialist to perform data entry, clerical support, and inmate processing at the La Plata County Jail. This role involves handling confidential records, generating reports, and assisting in crisis intervention as needed.

The incumbent will communicate with inmates, visitors, and staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all documentation while maintaining security and order within the booking area.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years progressively responsible related experience, or any combination of education, training and experience providing required knowledge and abilities.
• NCIC/CCIC Certification and First Aid/CPR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enter data into computer systems and databases; generate reports.
• Research warrants and access records to check criminal histories and booking information.
• Perform inmate processing and releases while maintaining accuracy of tracked information.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of records and work area.
• Provide information to the public and professional visitors; answer phones and route calls.
